Maithon Dam

The Maithon Dam is located about 48 kms from the City of Dhanbad. It is a beautiful and resourceful place with adventurous activities such as water sports, hill climbing, island resort etc. The dam is built on Barakar River.

Bhatinda Fall

The Bhatinda Falls is a powerful and picturesque waterfall that cascades over pronounced rock formations. It is located at a distance of 14 km from the Dhanbad.

Shikharji - Parasnath Hills

Śikharjī – Parasnath Hills is a pilgrimage site in located around 60 kms from Dhanbad City. It is the highest mountain in the state of Jharkhand and is the most important Jain Tirtha (pilgrimage site). The place is believed to be where twenty of the twenty-four Jain tirthankaras along with many other monks attained Moksha. There are rest houses available at the peak of Shikharji.

Topchanchi Lake

Topchanchi Lake is an artificial lake covering an expanse of over 214 acres. The lake is at a distance of 37 kilometers from the Dhanbad. Nature lovers enjoy this part of town and are often found flocking the area in search of rare flora and fauna. A wild life sanctuary is also located in the heart of town.

Panchet Dam

The Panchet Dam is located about 52 kms from city of Dhanbad. The dam gets its name for the nearby Panchet Hill that rises above the dam. It is a favorite tourist spot and easily accessible for day trips from Dhanbad and Asansol. The dam is built on river Damodar.

Ajodhya Hills

It is located about 100 kms from Dhanbad, in Purulia District of West Bengal.  The place is a popular place for mountaineers interested in rock climbing.  There are two Forest Rest House available here. According to Hindu mythology, Rama and Sita had come to Ajodhya Hills and stayed during their exile.

Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary

The wildlife sanctuary is located around 140 km from Dhanbad.

Trikut Hill and Tapovan Caves

Trikut Hill is located about 120 kms from Dhanbad The hills are famous spot. The three peaks of the TRIKUT hill signify the holy trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.  A rope way is a tourist attraction and can be used to reach the top of the hill. Tapovan Caves is located nearby from these hills.

Shantiniketan

The town is known for its literary and artistic heritage, with the notable figures being Rabindranath Tagore and Nandalal Bose.  The town is 150 km from city of Dhanbad.
